The Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) is an institute for advanced research, education and outreach on global governance. It was founded in 2007 as an equal collaboration among the Centre for International Governance Innovation, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University.

The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) was founded in 2001 and is an independent, non-partisan think tank on international governance. Led by experienced practitioners and distinguished academics, CIGI supports research, forms networks, advances policy debate and generates ideas for multilateral governance improvements.


The Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) is a global professional association of educational and research institutions, individual scholars and practitioners active in the work and study of multilateral relations, global governance and international cooperation.

Project Ploughshares is a non-governmental organization that works with churches, governments and civil society, in Canada and abroad, to advance policies and actions to prevent war and armed violence and build peace. Its policy work on peace and security issues is informed and strengthened through direct involvement with partners in conflict zones.

The Japan Futures Initiative (JFI) is a network of scholars and practitioners dedicated to the promotion of the policy-relevant social scientific study of Japan, with an eye toward better understanding challenges that Japan, Canada and other OECD countries face in the future, and to the identification of opportunities to enhance Canada-Japan cooperation.

Open during the school year Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Y Café Caterer offers freshly brewed coffee/cappucion/espresso, teas, and cold drinks along with baked goods, light snacks and sandwiches.
